When all the work on a project is done, marking it complete archives it and removes it from your active Projects view. This article covers how to complete a project, what happens when you do, and how to reopen one if needed.
How to Complete a Project
There are two ways to mark a project complete:
Automatically - when every task in the project is marked complete, the project closes itself automatically. No extra step needed.
Manually - click the circular bubble icon next to the project name while on the projects table. This marks the project complete immediately, regardless of whether all tasks are finished.
Heads up: If you manually complete a project that still has incomplete tasks, those tasks will be automatically marked complete too. Make sure this is intentional before clicking.
What Happens When a Project Is Completed
The project is moved to Complete status and disappears from your default Projects page view (which shows In Progress and Not Started only)
You can still find it at any time by filtering the Projects page by Status → Complete
If the project is part of a series, the other entries in that series are unaffected — they were pre-created when the series was set up and will continue on their own schedule
How to Reopen a Completed Project
Completed projects are hidden from the default Projects page view, so you'll need to surface it first.
On the Projects page, open the Filters panel
Change the Status filter to Complete and hit Update Filters
Use additional filters like client, date, or project name to narrow it down if needed
Find the project and either:
Click the green checkmark icon next to the project name to reopen it directly, or
Click into the project and uncheck any task - this automatically moves the project back to In Progress
When you're done, reset your filters back to your normal view so you're not still looking at completed projects
Viewing Past Completed Work
Completed projects serve as your archive of finished work. To review them at any time, filter the Projects page by Status → Complete. You can layer on additional filters like assignee, client, or date range to find specific work quickly.
