Template Library

Template Library

Every firm's Library includes 40 ready-made templates.

The templates are grouped into six categories:

  • Bookkeeping

  • Accounting & Reporting

  • Tax

  • Payroll

  • Audit & Assurance

  • Client Admin

Each template is tagged with a Category custom field that holds its category. Use this field to filter the Library or show it as a column (see Using the Library table below).

You can use the templates as they are or change them to suit your firm. To keep the original intact, duplicate a template first and edit the copy.

You can also create your own templates from scratch. To learn how, see the Creating templates article.

Template Table

The Library table lists your firm's templates. From the table you can sort and filter templates, choose which columns appear, edit values directly, and act on several templates at once.

Sort templates

Click a column header to sort the list by that column.

Filter templates

  1. Click the filter icon.

  2. Choose what to filter by: name, assignee, or a custom field such as Category.

  3. Set the value you want to filter on.

Add or remove columns

  1. Click Add columns.

  2. Select the columns you want to show, and deselect any you want to hide.

Template custom fields, such as Category, can be added and removed as columns as needed.

Edit templates in the table

The table is inline editable. Double-click a cell to update its value directly in the table.

Edit several templates at once

  1. Select the templates you want to change.

  2. Click Bulk Edit.

  3. Make your changes and apply them.

Assign work from several templates

  1. Select the templates you want to assign work from.

  2. Click Assign Work.

Delete templates

  1. Select the templates you want to delete.

  2. Click Delete.

Deleted templates can't be restored. To get one back, you'd have to re-create it manually, so check your selection before you delete.

Template custom fields

Templates have their own custom fields, separate from the custom fields you use elsewhere. The Category field on Library templates is one example. You create template custom fields in the separate Custom Fields tab on the Templates page. For how, see the Template custom fields article.
