Notifications Overview

Written by Beatty W

Notifications keep you and your team informed about the work that matters to you - upcoming due dates, @mentions, and task handoffs - without having to check in on every project manually. Each team member controls their own notification preferences independently.

How to Access Notifications

Select Notifications from the left navigation menu. When you have unread in app notifications, a red indicator will appear on the Notifications item in the sidebar so you can spot new activity at a glance.

Setting Up Your Preferences

Jetpack Workflow offers two notification formats: in-app and email. Each team member can choose whichever combination works best for them - both formats, just one, or none at all.

To configure your preferences:

  1. Navigate to Notifications in the left sidebar.

  2. On the right-hand side of the screen, you'll see each available notification type with toggles for in-app and email.

  3. Turn each toggle on or off to match your preferences. A blue toggle means that notification is active.

Changes save automatically and apply only to your account - no other team members are affected.

Available Notifications

There are 6 notification types in Jetpack Workflow. Each one can be enabled or disabled independently for both in-app and email formats.

Notification

What triggers it

Your task is up next

The task before yours in the project has been marked complete, and your task is now the active one

You're mentioned in a task

A team member @mentions you in a comment on a task

You're mentioned in a project

A team member @mentions you in a comment at the project level

Your task was marked as incomplete

A task assigned to you that was previously completed has been reopened

Your project is due today

A project assigned to you has a due date of today

Your task is due today

A task assigned to you has a due date of today

Tip: If you find you're getting too many notifications, start by disabling the due-today alerts and keeping only @mentions and "task up next" - these are the most actionable for day-to-day work.

In-App Notifications

When you receive an in-app notification, it will appear in the Notifications tab in the left sidebar. Clicking any notification takes you directly to the project or task it relates to, so you can act on it immediately.

To clear your notification list, click Mark all as read in the upper right corner of the Notifications page. This marks all current in-app notifications as read at once.

Email Notifications

When an email notification is triggered, you'll receive an email that includes the task or project name and a direct link to the relevant work in Jetpack Workflow. Clicking the link takes you straight there — no need to navigate manually.

If a team member isn't receiving email notifications they've turned on, ask them to check their spam or junk folder, as the emails can occasionally be filtered there.

Tips for Teams

  • Notifications are personal. Each team member sets their own preferences — admins cannot configure notifications on behalf of others. Encourage your team to set these up during onboarding.

  • @mentions are your best escalation tool. If something is urgent or blocked, mentioning a team member in a comment is the fastest way to surface it. Pair that with the @mention notification turned on so nothing gets missed.

  • "Task is up next" is great for handoff-heavy workflows. If your projects move through multiple team members step by step, this notification ensures the next person knows the moment it's their turn without any manual communication needed.
