Impact of Editing an Individual Project
Editing a single entry within a recurring project series is simple and won't affect other entries in that series by just editing the one entry. For example, if a team member assigned to a task is out of office for a future entry in the series, you can easily update the assignee for that specific entry to someone who is in office. The change will only apply to that one occurrence, leaving the rest of the series unchanged.
Please note, any changes made to the entire project series or the template the project was based on (e.g., task assignee, project description, task time estimates) will override existing fields in all entries. However, any instances of additional stand alone tasks within an entry in the series will not be impacted as that field did not exist in the entire project series or the template it was created from.
How to Edit an Individual Project
If you have changes that you would like to make to an individual project OR a specific due date of a repeating project series, here's how!
First, navigate to the project that you'd like to edit. To edit any aspect of the project, follow these steps.
To edit the project title, description, due date, client, or project assignee, click the Edit Project button near the top.
Add any labels to the project that might help to provide a high-level view on blockers or things to be aware of (e.g. "Pro Bono", "Urgent" or "Missing Client Documents").
Edit tasks as needed by clicking on a task, then click the pencil icon. You can also add a task, delete them, or rearrange them.
Leave comments for the team or just as part of a general update.
Add team members for visibility.
Now you're done! Because you're just editing one specific due date or your project does not repeat, you're all set! The changes you've made will only apply to the current instance of the project unless you use the orange edit menus to roll those changes out to the rest of the project series!
