Time Tracking Overview

The Time Tracking feature allows users to track time directly on tasks and gives teams visibility into how long work is taking compared to planned budgets.

Tracking Time on a Task

Users can track time live on any task that is assigned to them.

To start tracking time:

  1. Locate the task assigned to you.

  2. Click the black play button next to the task to begin the timer.

You can also open up a task and click the black play button in the upper middle of the task menu to start a task's timer!

Once the timer starts, it will appear in the bottom left corner of your screen. This timer shows the live time being tracked for that task. You can have more than one time tracker open at a time.

From the timer, you can:

  • View the live time being tracked

  • Stop the timer when your work is complete

  • Close the timer

  • See the task due date

  • Click the blue arrow in the upper right hand corner to go directly to the project and open the task you’re tracking time on

  • Click the client name to navigate to the client profile

  • Minimize the timer using the black bar at the bottom of the timer to reduce its size on your screen

Note: A user can only track time live on tasks that are assigned to them.

This is what the time tracker looks like when it is minimized. The timer will keep counting unless you stop the time prior to minimizing. You will see the time if the timer is still counting. No time will show if the timer is currently stopped.

Viewing Tracked Time

Once time has been recorded on a task, it will appear in the Actuals column in the task list inside of the project.

You will also see a Task Budget column that displays the planned amount of time allocated to that task.

To help quickly identify task performance:

  • If actual time exceeds the budget, the value will appear in red

  • If actual time is under the budget, the value will appear in green

This makes it easy to quickly see which tasks are running over or under the planned time.

Admin Editing Permissions

Admins have additional control over time tracking. They can edit time entries on any task in the system, even if the task is not assigned to them. This allows administrators to correct entries or update time logs when needed.

To edit, click into the actuals field directly on the project tasks table and edit inline or hit the open button to open up the task drawer and hit the edit button in the top right hand corner to make edits to that task.

Project Time Log

Each project now includes a Time Log tab at the top of the Project Profile.

Select the Time Log tab to view all time tracking activity for tasks within that specific project. This provides a centralized view of time spent across the project and helps with reviewing project progress and resource usage.

Use the Filter option to filter the table by task assignee or task name.

Use the Export Table button to export the data in this table to a .csv file.
