Each task in Jetpack Workflow has a field known as budgeted time, which lets you estimate the amount of time required to complete each task.

Accurate budgeting of time is crucial for effective capacity planning, so it is important that every task includes a budgeted time estimate, even if the task is not currently assigned to a team member. You can have a task that has a budgeted time value of 0 but please be aware this can lead to inaccurate Planning.

Budgeted time can be added to tasks on a template, tasks in a project series or tasks in an individual project.

How to Add or Adjust Budgeted Time in a Task

In order to add or adjust budgeted time in a task, follow these steps:

  1. Open the template or project that the task is in

  2. Click the task

  3. Click the pencil at the top

  4. Add or edit the estimated budget time in minutes (e.g., 1 hour would be entered as 60 mins)

  5. Click Create Task or Update Task to save

Where Can I Find the Budgeted Time in a Task?

When you're on a template or a project, a task's budgeted time will be easily visible on the task card next to the clock icon.

When you're on other pages in the app like My Work or Team Work, budgeted time will not be visible in the task card but you can click into a task to view it's budgeted time!

The budgeted time field works hand in hand with the Planning page, allowing team members with Level 2 or 3 permissions to view and analyze the total workload assigned to each individual across projects.
